A few days after the Phoenix area hail and wind, I noticed that -- son of a gun -- my car roof, hood, and some mouldings were subtly dented by the hail. I called my insurance and they gave me an appointment (ten days later) for their "Incident Response Claim Center".
So I show up and doggone if they're not processing vehicle after vehicle with more or less the same sort of damage. The adjuster said their company alone had processed over 6,000 hail claims so far. He then handed me a check for over $4,000 less the deductible.
I personally saw nothing larger than some 1.5" - 2" stones -- nothing spectacular. What made these storms so damaging was that they were driven by a downburst/derecho at high velocity.
Needless to say I'm pocketing the cash and keeping the damage as a badge of honor, but find it more than a little ironic that it didn't happen chasing but, rather, parked in my Phoenix driveway.
