1/20/10 NOW: TX/OK/LA

Numerous supercell storms now developing in LA and NE TX. Storm just west of Shreveport now has a hook and 70 kts of max shear. As I speak it became tornado warned. Storm in Sabine Parish, LA also with a hook and rotation. They look meaty. With the high dewpoints in the area, these are most likely HPs.

Strong G-G (near 120 kts) now about to cross the TX/LA border west of Shreveport. With the radar beam at 3000 ft AGL, that could be a tornado on the ground.

FWIW, The Weather Channel is reporting a tornado on the ground near Blanchard, LA with trees down along I-20 just west of the state line...
...remember Shreveport already took (EF-2 I believe) a tornado last Fall

Report of people trapped in homes and businesses damaged along I-20 near Jonestown TX

Tornado warning reissued on that storm in NW LA... looks to be heading for Shreveport. Man I sure was wishing nothing would happen this evening. I'm at my Nephews 1st birthday party... and all this blowing up in my backyard. Some things are more important I guess, haha...

Next supercell wrapping up good near Gilmer in Upshur Co., TX. Rotation broad and not as strong, but several other cells are still developing to the west. Storm in Henderson County is getting its act together with about 85 kts G-G on that cell at 0.5 degrees right now.

Wow, I've called 2 of them now. Tornado reported in eastern Henderson County, TX.

I think the tornadoes said "Spring's coming early this year" and "no, I'm not picking up after my debris."
The next one you call might be up for a date, but she might only be interested if you have a mobile home or trailer since her rotation was a little iffy to take on anything more solid.

Looks like FL is getting just a tad of action in the panhandle now from a severe storm that meets the new hail minimum with the quarter-sized hail: "THIS STORM
WAS 2 MILES WEST OF CHUMUCKLA...OR ABOUT 25 MILES SOUTHWEST OF
BREWTON...AND MOVING EAST AT 25 MPH."

Jackson, MS is getting a tornado-warned storm on the way as part of the line/broken line combo formation.
With high helicity 400-500 at the LA/MS border and CAPE penetrating North from the Gulf Coast up to 1500, looks like the night will stay pretty active though without the supercellular mode earlier. (On the other hand, that's mainly a visual impression and the composite index for supercells more than qualifies).
