09/27/2010 Reports: Venice - Italy

Very nice chase in northern Italy with several waterspouts spotted last Monday south of Venice.
The first waterspouts were observed on the Adriatic Sea just before dawn (first 3 pics). At around 2 PM, managed to intercept 3 more waterspouts on the southern portion of the Venetian Lagoon near Chioggia.
Oliver Staiger (Klipsi) and Henri Buffetaut were my chase partners.
Niccolò Ubalducci was also with us in the morning but unfortunately he had to leave at noon.

fun anecdote , early morning I go struck , or lets say, gently touched, by a very weak landspout. I was at the beach, facing the wind , the seabreeze, when all of a sudden the wind changed direction and suddenly came from behind me, stronger and warmer than the seabreeze, and this lasted about 10 or 20 seconds, and then the wind changed to seabreeze again... and you guys saw a rotating funnel over my position . Ha ! that was fun ! granted, it was a very weak rotation, it did not even pick up debries, but the sand was wet and heavy from rain anyway...
