Documented my first urban flood event of the summer which in itself is a sad thing to show how dismal tihs summer has been. I was hanging with friends in Wheat Ridge, and thus left myself pretty tied to the west side of town, thus intercepting the beginnings of what became the southeast Denver mega-rain monster. I documented minor street flooding and penny-sized hail in the Green Mountain area (300 acre wild earlier in the week). Portions of southeast Denver went under a flash flood warning when as much as four inches of rain came down. This chase records my first chase in August and continues my streak of chasing every month thus far in 2008.

Water over neighborhood roads in central Lakewood near Belmar.

Few more images on my blog, as well as a link to a 7News story with some pretty cool post-storm flood video.

Sorry for the delayed post--
Chased the southeast Denver rain storm from the other side of town (along E-470) & caught some nice CG shots between 9:30 & 10pm before the lightning-prolific storm flew south. Would've followed the storm with all the great lightning it was putting out, but the flooding was too severe, and dirt roads were out of the question since they all had rivers flowing through them.

This one struck a mile away--more than close enough for a CG that huge.

Same area, one minute later!

One of several nice landscapes I shot after the storm moved off. You can see the upslope flow in the lower cloud layer (looking south).
