07/06/09 NOW: CO/NM/WY

There is currently a severe warned T-Storm west of Pueblo, CO that is producing golf ball sized hail. We are approaching this storm from the north hoping to avoid this hail on I-25 as our ride is pretty much new. MD 1455 http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md1455.html pretty much sums up the setup for today along the front range. Further reports pending us catching anything worthwhile.

We went to Colorado City and a rotating funnel cloud and/or landspout was right above our heads and half way to the ground! Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures as it was raining and we were looking into somewhat obscured sunlight and it was almost impossible to look straight at it because the rain and sun hurt our eyes. It was really cool while it lasted!

Looks like a few storms brewing over the mountains right now. I might head out in a bit if they can keep their intensity once they hit the front range. I got absolutely slaughtered yesterday on I-70 near Strasburg on a severe thunderstorm. It was fun though! Still monitoring this afternoon and then I might hit the road.

very impressive couplet on the edge of severe line of storms moving through eastern montana. winds over 70 mph have been reported along with a couple of reports of tornadoes. circle, montana was directly in the path! anyone chasing montana?!
