A strong storm system rolled through western Washington yesterday bringing with it thunderstorms and heavy hail. I was driving north on I-405 around the Bothell area at around 4:30 when I came across one of the stronger cells that dumped at least a couple inches of hail on the interstate within a few minutes, bringing traffic to a grinding halt in the early parts of rush hour. Here's a picture from the traffic cam in that area at the time the hail was accumulating.

Definitely a strange afternoon in an area that rarely gets this kind of weather!
