If you look at the soundings Bob you would see that yes its cool but the cold air is very shallow. Maybe 500ft deep at the most so the entire updraft is in warm air. I am surprised it didnt mix out better but with all the rain earlier it just reenforced the cold pool. Thats why these storms are going so crazy in 50 degree temps. A tornado is definitely not out of the question if it can break the line.

Seriously, thanks for the insight, Jay. With latest SJT ob of 75/63, that's no longer even a consideration at that section of the squall, yet it seems to be calming down some now.

Yike SJT radar showing very impressive velocity scans..did a 1.3 level scan and showed the possible Tornado SW of San Angelo. I know you arent suppose to smooth velocity here but it shows up very well.. check out this LVL 2 scan..Quite A Squall line ..very impressive in both reflectivity and Velocity !
