While obviously all the focus is on the storm just west of DFW, conditions are becoming more ripe for rapid development back to the SW along the DL, parameters are through the roof, and vis Sat shows towering CU all along the DL as far south as the Rio Grande.

A couple of observations:

(1) If that thing turns, as several have mentioned, more to the right...the metro is in trouble (DFW metro).

(2) About 30 more minutes until it gets into an area where the towns are more closely spaced. Lets hope that it dies down a bit by then.

(3) Storms along the dryline near Big Spring are starting to get going.

(4) Storms west of Wichita Falls, albeit probably elevated, are also starting to develop.

Streaming video is finally coming back on. I guess the Breckenridge area sucks for cell connections. Too bad Steve and I had to work today and couldnt get down there in time :(

Still an incredible singnature on radar. On its present course it looks to hit Graford head on or turn a bit right and head right at Mineral Wells. I am sure those guys got some great video of this beast.

I'm skeptical the storm riding the warm front will sustain itself closer to the Metroplex due to the lack of insolation today. However, RUC mesoanlysis still shows 1000+ CAPE and virtually no cap. Warm fronts tend to do strange things to supercells...so I don't doubt it cycles a couple more times.

It looks like a bunch of chasers have broken off the chase and stopped in Breckenridge. This is not a good sign. Perhaps the road is blocked with debris or there might be significant damage.

Has anyone heard anything from folks out in the field?

Here are a couple GR3 grabs from 2225Z. Based on position of SRV couplet I would suppose the town of Breckenridge escaped serious damage.

I was thinking that the storm by Dallas might loose a little steam here in the next 20 minutes or so. It is approaching an area where there has been persistent convergence throughout the day with little popcorn showers that have been popping up all afternoon. You can't really tell from surface obs, but there has to be some rain cooled air in that area that the storm will have to ingest. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

damage report from NWS chat room: 183 South... south of town, lots of damage, power lines down.... traffic lights in town not working, large trees uprooted... confirming 18-wheeler blocking road with TXDOT trying to clean it up.... fires due to lightning strikes... reporting multiple structural damage reports.... that's from our reporter in Breckenridge FWD

Just talked to Dave Holder. I believe he is in the group with Reed Timmer. He told me that houses have lost their roofs near Breckenridge. Let's hope that nobody is injured. They are trying to catch back up now.

I just got off the phone with Reed Timmer a few minutes ago. He said that he was about 100 yards away from the Breckenridge tornado when it formed and it from his perspective looked to be a strong tornado but he seemed hesitant to call it violent(from his previous encounters I would say he is a good judge). I didn't hear anything about damage.
