Hello everyone, here's a little intro to one of the new site's sections. The WxLibrary is a new core feature of Stormtrack that we hope can become the go-to resource for all things storm chasing on the internet - and we need you, fellow Stormtrack members, to make it a reality. The WxLibrary is running on a wiki platform integrated into the Stormtrack forum, which allows granting of permissions to any current trusted member who wishes to be a contributor and editor. The idea is to build an organized, crowdsourced information/education repository - for chasers, by chasers.

Storm Chasing Event Archive

One of the larger sections of the WxLibrary that needs the most work is in the Storm Chasing Event Archive. Here, we're not trying to duplicate Wikipedia or Storm Data's list of historical weather events. Rather, this is a collection of information and data relevant to each event from the perspective of the storm chasing community: links to chase logs, discussion about the setup, targeting/strategy issues and weather charts to name a few. We've worked to get the Archive started with a sampling of past events that you can browse through:

https://stormtrack.org/weather_library/?title=Storm-Chasing-Event-Archive

To finish out this section, we need those with good writing skills (and ideally, knowledge about past storm chasing events) to help write the event summaries, compile links to chase accounts, gather weather charts and any other relevant forecast data.

Severe Storms Resource Library

This section is intended to be a training resource for new chasers and spotters. Again, we need knowledgeable people to help with creating articles, how-to guides and any other information to benefit today's chaser or spotter.

If you'd like to become a WxLibrary editor to help out with these sections, contact one of the forum admins.

Stormtrack Magazine Archives

For the first time ever, the entire catalog of Stormtrack Magazine back issues - all the way back to 1977 - are available free online! This is truly a "national treasure" of storm chasing that every chaser new and old should find useful and entertaining.

Who's Who in Storm Chasing

An old staple of Stormtrack is back! For information on getting your listing in the Who's Who, see the Who's Who FAQ page. We have eventual plans to make each profile in the Who's Who user-editable with your ST login credentials, but we've determined that will take some substantial coding work to integrate seamlessly with the forum software. We'd welcome any help in that area if you are adept with programming and database development.

I have a large collection of official reports and research papers as well as weather charts for the April 10, 1979 Wichita Falls (Red River Valley Outbreak) tornado. Is this the type of information that is needed for the library?

Yes Greg, those would be great to add somewhere in the library. Anything like that that is government/public domain or that we have permission to post here would be awesome to have.

So who can I collaborate with to add to the Storm Chasing Archive? If anything I can help with some rundowns of days from 2010 - present.

I have created a handy web form for creating individual past chase accounts for submission to Stormtack. We're interested in every event, regardless of obscurity! Thanks in advance for posting - and please feel free to distribute this link: http://goo.gl/LoYYLs
