Tornadoes/Mountains

Oct 22, 2014 - 11:23 PM - by Caleb Routt
Hey guys please help me understand this: https://ams.confex.com/ams/26SLS/web...per211460.html

I understand sort of what a swirl ratio is but im not really sure how mountains effect the tornado's swirl ratio and how vortexes become stronger on the down hill side of a hill or mountain.

I Googled them, looked around here, but have only a vague understanding that their small-scale centers of low preasure. It would be a great help if could help me to identify them.

HOOT, the student-run organization that develops weather products at the University of Oklahoma, has begun releasing new forecast soundings for public consumption. As of right now, HOOT is only offering select forecast soundings from the RAP, although plans are in place to expand the available forecast soundings to a wide variety of... [Read More]
