Just wanted to let everyone know that I just purchased a new wi-fi card for my laptop and its awesome. I got a BUFFALO WLI-CB-G54HP high power wireless g card and I am very satisfied with it. It picks up signals that my old orinoco gold card could not while at home. The card even has an external mc card adapter for hooking up an external mag mount antenna for use in your vehicle. Setup was a snap and the card works flawlessly. I purchased it at Newegg.com. Here is the link to the url to the card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833162128

I've got the same exact card, and can also vouch for it. Works amazing. I also got an external antenna to mount on top of the car which helps even more. I'm able to pick up a high speed connection from three houses away.

If you want a card that has the best range of any card out there check out the brand

Are orinoco cards any good?

They are very good. I have the orinoco classic gold card with an external mag. mount antenna. Didn't use it much since my Cingular card worked so good, but my orinoco would pick up signals from pretty far away. I picked up our signal at home from about a half-mile away from the house. I can't compare to the other cards that people are talking about, but the orinoco is very good.

The Orinoco card is only 30mW but I have one and wouldn't give it up for the world. I also have a high-power Senao card that pumps out 200mW! This card is well supported and really wipes out the competition. With a 0dB gain ground plane antenna I can easily pick up sites half a mile away. It also has two external antenna jacks and is very low profile.
