What do most of you use for labeling your DVD's? I'm looking for something that will embed a color image & text onto the face of the disc w/o using a stick-on peeled label. Thanks.

There are inkjet printers that have a special tray that lets you put a disc in and print directly to the surface of special discs. I'd use that if you need to do color prints and different prints all the time. There are also thermal printers that let you do black text on a silver disc surface that are cheaper. I bought a "Magic EZ Dupe" It gets the job done, but skips portions of the text on certain kinds of discs. If you need a bunch, I'd actually just go through a disc duplicator service like Disc Makers. They can print off blank discs for you or burn them as well.

At work I have a MicroBoards disc printer. Really fast and makes beautiful label straight on the discs. They are pricey around $2000 plus ink and supplies. Really it may be cheaper to find a duplication house near you and have them do all the work if you aren't doing tons of discs in a year. For my business I still us the stick on labels which is kind of a pain, but generally I'm doing 20-40 discs at a time so it still faster then driving to the place dropping it off and then driving to pick them up.

I have an Epson RX595 which prints directly on inkjet discs, and it does a respectable job.. I doubt you can get them new anymore (I paid $300 like 5 years ago), but I would think a newer version would be as good or better. It takes about a minute-ish for a full color label, about 30 seconds for a black and white..

The only other thing I can suggest is 'burnable' labels.. Lightscribe, burns the label onto special discs with a special drive, but they are a bit expensive and the color scheme is reminiscent of the OG Game Boy "creamed spinach" screen. Labelflash gives you more options (including Disc T@2, which is kinda cool) and a white/blue color scheme, but still needs a special drive and the discs are also expensive. Both also can take upwards of 20-30 mins per label.
