Hi,

I am an avid (but amateur) lightning photographer. I have create a web site, Lightning Shot Spots, that is attempting to catalog the best places to take lightning and storm pictures. If you have a favorite location that you would like to contribute, I would appreciate it very much! The site is very basic at the moment...I'm intending to "pretty it up" while I collect data.

Thanks!

This might be interesting. I suspect many will protect their 'favorite' spots, but many will share. It's more of a task just to get folks to actually submit.

I'll try to add some somewhat obvious ones locally...like a few of the parking decks that come in real handy for getting over the treeline.

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

I appreciate any additions that you might want to contribute. And you are right....getting people to submit locations is absolutely the hardest part. I certainly don't want people to disclose their secret locations, but there are tons of spots that are public and which make for good photos...those are the ones I'm shooting for to start. I hate going to a new location and not even knowing how to get above the treeline!

Thanks!

Mark

I just added one North of the OKC metro area w/brief description.:D

I'll try to add one or two more. Is it possible to attach a photo to the pin so that people kind of get an Idea of what that location looks like??

Thanks!

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the spot addition! Hopefully this will encourage others to add their spots as well! You also helped me find a bug in my code. It appears that if you add a carriage return in the description, as you did, it prevents the map from showing! I'll have to figure out why.

I think it is a great idea to add a picture to give an example of the spot. I'll add that to my features list. First priority is a "Send to GPS" link for the spots.

Thanks!

Mark
