WANTED: Older Storm Chase Highlight Videos

Jim Leonard used to offer a 3-video set called "A Quarter Century of Chasing" that featured footage from 1975-2000. I don't know if he still offers this or not, but it's outstanding, and is my all-time favorite chaser video.

Tim Marshall has several videos available from 1981-2002 in the Stormtrack Shop, which you can access from the left side of the ST mainpage.

Bobby Prentice offers several videos from 1990-2001 here: http://members.cox.net/rprentice/shop.htm

Jeff Piotrowski/Brian Stertz released the May 3, 1999 outbreak video "Terror in the Heartland" years ago, but I don't know if it's still available.

Bill Reid has several videos spanning the 1990s, including 1993's "Last Chance" and 1998's "Ticket For A Doomsday Run", both absolute classics.

dean, again, thank you for your contributions. i do believe i have your wxp1 video on vhs from years ago. amazing footage from the idalia (sp?) and last chance co. tornadoes! i am tho (funds permitting) looking to eventually purchase the entire wxp dvd set!

so any one else have or know of any older videos that are still available?

Matt:

I agree with Shane--Bill Reid's series from the early 90s are classics. He has been putting out videos every year since 1994(??), and I have every year.

They're great! He comes up with the strangest music I've ever heard.

Happy New Year!
Tim

Hi Matt

I agree with Shane and Tim - Bill Reid has some great DVD's- 'Ticket For a Doomsday Run' is ace, as is 'It should have happened yesterday' 'A fistful of Twisters' (99-2000)and 'BC Chaser '97'.

Thanks to all of you who said good stuff about my chase vids! And yes, they are all available. I have converted most of them to DVD format, and some to microfiche, so if your old VHS tape is turned inside out or permanently embedded within the vcr in the closet, you have the opportunity to watch the old stuff again in even better quality.

Here is my list of chase videos:

1993 The Last Chance Chase
1995 Barnstorming on The High Plains (6 hours----ugh!)
1996 Twister Chaser '96!!
1997 BC Chaser '97!!
1998 Ticket For A Doomsday Run (including the Spencer, SD tornado on 5/30/98)
1999-2000 A Fistful of Twisters (including Waterloo, IA on 5/11/00)
2001 Mesos For The Masses (including Seward, NE on 6/13/01)
2002 Convective Exhibitions (inc. Happy, TX on 5/5/02)
2003 Please Listen To The Sirens (about four big tornado days)
2004 Harper County PDS (also about four big tornado days)
2005 Damn The Tornadoes
2006 It Should Have Happened Yesterday

The storm chaser video producers and writers union (SCVPAWU) is on strike and I am unable to make a video for 2007. Good thing, because I sucked more than an EF5 in 2007.

e-mail me at

if you are interested in any or all of my chase videos. Normal pricing is $20 each (postpaid), with volume discounts, and trades accepted.

Bill Reid = Best chase video maker there is.

I think I have 98 onward now, and obviously the 98 one ain't one you'd want to leave out, with Spencer on there and all. They are all great. Dang it, now I have to watch one while heading to bed. The one coming to mind I think may be 2001, but I'm not sure. Whichever one it was, it has the coolest music montage ever. The intro scene with the music rules. They are all great, but that one piece to music just really stands out whenever I think of his vids.

After reading the reviews of Bill Reid's videos, I ordered 4 of them. I was so impressed that I decided to order all of them! He is very reasonable in his pricing. As already mentioned, they contain very unique music clips which create different moods & emotions throughout the video. I particularly enjoy the variety of footage (e.g. cloud structure, lightning, sunsets, rainbows, landscapes) which lends to a broader perspective of storm chasing & the beauty that is sometimes overshadowed by the thrill of the chase.
