• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

just picked up a used (2yr) Sony vx2100 and really love the ease of editing through real player via windows xp
however I have 2 unresloved issues....
1. cant hear the audio when Im rendering - its fine after its captured but when Im scrolling through, no audio (no mic or headset is attached to anything)
2. cant fast fwd or fast rewind through real player editing box - I CAN stop /pause/ record/frame advance and do everything else (the fast fwd and fast rewind can be done manually through the camera buttons though its a bit of a hassle)

am I missing a setting on one or both issues?
bill:confused:

Bill, Common not to hear audio while rendering with editing apps.

Im unsure about the features that realplayer editor has. I assure you though that real player editor isnt a higher end application. I would assume it is severely lacking in its feature set.

You may consider a higher end more professional application with your new higher end camera.

Fred's right - with a camera like that you'd be much better equipped with something like Pinnacle Studio (roughly $100). The apps that come with Windows and other software are usually not meant for anything but basic home video editing, and therefore have their limitations and bugs if used for anything more. I've heard the free Avid software is decent, but I've never tried it myself. Might be worth a shot for your needs:

Check eBay for older copies of Pinnacle or Premiere, you might find a good deal there.

thanks for the pinnacle referral several have mentioned it - actually I probably shouldn't even use it to render video truth be known....

seems like a stresser to fast fwd and rewind over and over, no? I'm assuming most here use their camcorders to render,no? If so has anyone had an expensive failure from doing such? Im probably not going to be making that many movies - maybe 6 - 8hrs a month (maybe thats alot?)

my old VRC camcorder had no trouble but maybe todays equipment is more sensitive?

buy a cheapie dv cam at next circuit city or best buy sale and use it as a capturing deck.
Money well spent
