Typhoon Nuri heading to Hong Kong

James Reynolds

Morning all, my first post on Storm Track. :)

Typhoon Nuri is churning through the South China Sea after buzz sawing northern Luzon on the Philippines. 5 people reported dead there so far.

It's south China's turn next, and Hong Kong is in the bulls eye of JMA's latest forecast, with landfall expected in that area tomorrow afternoon local time. Shear has increased a lot so this should prevent Nuri from strengthening. Indeed JMA forecast a weakening trend with landfall around 70kts (10 min average.)

I was briefly considering a trip down there but I'm not going to bother now. I have many friends in Hong Kong and the Pearl River region so I look forward to hearing their reports.
