Trimming video without rendering

For those shooting video that goes to memory cards including HD and 4K video, what program do you use to make simple cuts without re-rendering and losing some quality?

I currently use HDV video on tapes, and it is easy to capture a short segment to use for projects. As I transition to HD video on flash memory including 4K, I would like to extract and save video clips without filling my memory with unnecessary video. I use Adobe Premiere CS5 but see no way to extract video clips without rendering again.

Is this what you are looking for? It works for me when I cut video, doesn't appear to lose quality, but the application itself is kinda clunky. Regardless it gets the job done much quicker than a render.

I just re-render in h.264 which is pretty good in terms of quality and really makes file sizes smaller. I've got a decently beefy laptop though, so the render only takes a couple of minutes. The longest part is the cuts & upload.
