Here we are on the eve of a new chapter for Stormtrack. I want to again thank those involved in every aspect of this effort. Countless man-hours have been volunteered in the past five weeks for the sake of restoring this institution. I hope you're as excited as I am!
As you have read in the notification, tonight (Fri. Feb 20) we will export the final database from the current version of Stormtrack. The meat of this export takes only a few minutes to perform. The task of importing into the new site will then take up to 10 hours. When the import is complete the staff will take a few hours on Saturday to adjust permissions, make changes to some content classification, and tie in components that we were not yet able to on the staging domain.
I fully expect to be operational for members in the afternoon timeframe.
Upon launch, the site will be ready for you to use. There will be some construction going on around you but nothing that will affect overall functionality. Most notably, full social integration will not be realized for at least 24 hours as we have to go through the vetting process with common networks; something that cannot be accomplished until the new site is active on the stormtrack.org domain.
Back to work we go. See you tomorrow on a new platform!
Steve
