• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Tornado in OKC metro yesterday?

Wife said there were reports of a tornado near Cogar, OK (OKC metro) yesterday, as KFOR TV chopper had footage??? Anyone see this?

I didn't manage to catch the video but the wife and kids claimed they couldn't see anything but maybe a power flash.

Not debating the report, just wondering if someone managed to catch the broadcast and see what it was?

I saw the footage on KFOR's 9 pm broadcast on KAUT but what they showed was very hard to see anything. You could catch were the funnel was at in the cloud base but I didn't see any motion on the ground or the power flash's. Mike Morgan said it was on the ground for under 3 minutes and I beleive only a few yards wide.

Saw a quick glimpse of what they said was a tornado...was hard to tell. I thought more maybe gustnado. Maybe they'll show the vid again on the lunchtime news. I did check the storm reports on SPC...nothing there.

I saw the video but it was hard to really tell...the first shot that I saw was really quick..there did appear to be rotation at cloud base with power flashes underneath, but I would like to see it again...the shot with the debris cloud...it looked more like outflow winds, maybe a gustnado, but I couldn't get any sense of rotation with it. It was very hazy tho.
There was a confirmed EF1 tornado near Warner in eastern Ok, Muskogee county I believe, several buildings damaged.

Here's the KFOR video of this so-called "tornado":

It's under the top videos section. I only watched it once, but I never saw the power flash they kept referring to, and really I can't see much of anything. I don't see any rotation given the quality of that video, MAYBE some weak rotation in some of that scud drifting around, but as far as I can tell that may just be some dust blowing up from the gust front. Were any of you guys actually out there? Channel 9 doesn't seem to report this and they're usually pretty good about sending people out all over the place.

Well, it's hard to tell exactly from the clip, but like with the Denver thing a few days ago, I didn't see the dust cloud moving much. However it's quite clear there is a debris cloud on the ground for at least a minute or so. I'm not saying it was a tornado, but I really don't see any reason (from the video) for the overwhelming skepticism....I'd owe that to the station making the report and the "OU" tag on some posters' signatures. Sometimes I swear part of the OU met program is teaching students to hate KFOR, LOL.

One thing for sure in the chasing world, there sure as hell aren't second chances. Once crucified, always a martyr.

I went out after seeing the radar and when a SVR was issued for Canadian County. I may have had a visual on the "tornado" from the interstate close to the time that happened as it moved slowly northeast. I would say that it
was likely a gustnado. Nothing even remotely had my interest with that cell west of El Reno, it was already weakening when I reached it. I ventured to the Hwy 270 exit on I-40, then backtracked and went down Hwy 81 to Hwy 152. There was some fairly stout very localized downbursts with this cell that was southwest of El Reno by about 10mi. but not quite enough to be severe, maybe 45mph at most in gusts. There was no hail whatsoever where I was at.

The one thing that was of greater interest, I was watching another cell quickly develop just southwest of my house (5mi. NW of Piedmont) at sunset (about 2050cdt) a rather dramatic updraft developed on the northside of the precip. area. This definitely had the appearance of some rotation and could have sworn it was rotating clockwise. The updraft moved right over my house at aprox. 2105, interestingly, the wind picked up out of the east as this passed overhead... gusts to about 30mph and no hail, then the wind shifted southwest a few minutes later at no more than around 15mph or so... occassional staccato cg's struck within a few miles, nothing too dramatic there either. I did get several pictures of this updraft, ... I'm one day sooner to getting everything I need to post these pics on the net... then my camera may be attached to me like my head :D

Also.... 1.80 inches of rain overnight... I sure love this pattern, if Oklahoma summers can always be like this!
