Well, it's official. This is about the first I've mentioned of it publically, but Shannon and I are moving back to Norman, Oklahoma this month. As you all know, we've spent the last 5 years in Texas, and we find ourselves flocking back to the "nest".

What brought this on? Shannon got a really outstanding job at the NWS Warning Decision Training Branch in the weather center. She's been working there for almost a month now. It comes at an interesting time as we've been starting to reconsider our decision to move to Palestine. Though we like the slow-paced life and everything being a 5-minute drive away, we've been starting to feel a dead end here and were about to throw in the towel even before the vacancy was posted.

Last week we got a house on 10 acres out in the country in far east Norman. It's actually pretty close to my old house. We'll be moving out there over the next couple of weeks and hopefully will be settled by May.

So we've been pretty busy lately, and this explains some of my absence over the past couple of weeks. I really have not even looked at any Stormtrack PMs that have arrived during the past few weeks. I do appreciate all the efforts of David Drummond and the moderator team during this busy period.

Anyhow I look forward to meeting the Normanites here again when I return. I'm always interested in an evening of beer and good music to take my mind off of weather and programming, so maybe we'll all have to get together one of these evenings.

Tim

Good luck with the move---sometimes it's great to go back to a familiar place. I'm sure the Norman ST family will be glad to see you around more often. Congrats to Shannon for landing that job, too.

congratulations Tim! i wish you and your wife all the best in Norman!

Thanks all... we just got settled a couple of nights ago here in Norman and our broadband Internet is now up. It's kind of surreal to be back.

Congrats Tim and good to hear everything is working out for you guys :)

Welcome back home Tim!!! I just returned to the Motherland myself back in February. Though I was only gone nine months, it felt like an eternity.

As for the beers and music, we have little shindigs quite often. We'll have to put you on the mailing list for our beer and darts nights :-)

10 acres...that sounds sweet! I bet it's a nice place. Congrats man. Hopefully it will be a good move for you. OKC is a bit further away, but maybe I can hook up with you Tim and some of the other folks on beer night sometime in between chases this Spring. You know I like a good beer, and am starting to get into brewing...partly inspired by you and other chaser brewers.

Best of luck in the new location.

I understand completely Tim.

I honestly can not think of living anywhere else in the country (besides Texas) in terms of laid back relaxed living together with a community rich in weather/meteorology. Its going to be tough for me in a year when I graduate. I always tell people that in a perfect world I would be working at the NWC the rest of my life. I know some people would think Im crazy but I honestly LOVE it here. Something about being in the center of the world in terms of meteorology makes me feel at home. I like to be surrounded by people that share my passion for weather, wether is be severe storms or winter storms.
A def warm and rousing welcome back from me and everyone in the NWC community. I look forward to seeing you around sometime soon
