• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

New Cell Phone Rumor:

Possible T-Mobile-Sprint merger could rival AT&T in subscribers

In short, rumor is that Detsche Telekom (owner of T-Mobile) is preparing a take-ver bid for Sprint-Nextel.

While I see it as possible, it would be a nightmare to bring the networks together due to their incompatible networks. T-mobile of course is GSM, Sprint is CDMA and Nextel is iDen. Yuck! It would make the third largest company in the country though.

Just another fun cell phone company rumor.

Yea I think there are a number of other problems that would also have to be resolved too...

iPcs would have to be bought by Sprint first at a premium, this has been a thorn in Sprint's side in a LONG time. The network is old and has not been upgraded. (iPcs sells Sprint using their own towers "as sprint" in rural areas)

Sprint was recently told they need to divest their iDen service in areas where iPcs offers service because they can not compete directly with iPcs. Obviously this will be a BIG problem if they can't compete in areas where T-Mobile has service.

Prob need to dump the rest of their wireline business too, dedicated internet and long distance because thats not the business T-Mobile wants to be in.

Other rumors are out there about Comcast bidding too, this makes complete sense with Cox building a network right now.

I think if anything they will need to wait for 4G to merge anything because the CDMA towers will be to far apart to be of use for GSM.

I personally would rather see someone like US Cellular step up with financing and buy them because their growth is dead unless they buy something or are bought themselves.

Sprint has about a thousand things going for it right now, if they can shake their "They Suck" image there is no reason NOT to be a Sprint customer. They got their Customer Service under control, they have great handset options and their pricing can't be beat.

I find it funny a company like AT&T can change their name to Cingular to dump the bad image AT&T wireless had, then switch it back with the Jesus phone and everyone loves them.

I love the iPhone but the network is complete crap, Sprint needs to find someway to fix their image problem because all the service issues are fixed IMHO.

Scott, you summarized it all well. Agree on the tower spacing issue, agree on the network being the best with a bad image, nice reply!

if T-mobile merges with Spring, I'm dumping T-mobile and switching to AT&T.

I had a terrible experience with sprint in which i was charged $600 for phone calls to Japan that i never made, because I don't know anyone in Japan. When I told Sprint I wasn't paying the damn bill, they started to harrass me. Finally I had the entire service disconnected adding another $150 in termination fees.

Somehow they got my new number thru T-Mobile and started calling me everyday, and I had this one girl who said she would straight up come to my house and beat my ass if I didn't pay the bill. After complaining to management, and nothing getting done, I bought a tape recorder and connected it to my cell phone, and this dumb broad called back and started threatening me again. This time I sent a copy of the tape and a threat of a lawsuit to Sprint's Legal Department. My bill except for the termination fee was completely wiped out, and the girl was fired.

I refuse to do business with Sprint ever since. Garbage network, garbage service, garbage phones.
