I'm surprised that with the lack of activity in the Atlantic basin more hasn't been said about a busy Western Pacific week. Just one week after Manilla was under the deluge of Typhoon Ketsana now Super Typhoon Parma (Pepeng) is on course for landfall in Luzon in approx. 48 hours.

Maybe if all the ST hurricane hunters pooled their funds we could send at least one person to document this landfall. Might as well since the chances of a second North American tropical landfall this year are looking increasingly dim save for a stalled out front converting in either the GOM or off the East Coast.

It looks like its supposed to slow down off the northern tip of the phillipines, meaning even more rain than your normal TC if that verifies

Between the earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical systems and general political unrest this has not been a good week in that quadrant of the world. Oh and don't look now, here come Melor.

Having not studied typhoons much, is it normal for feeder bands to be so elongated to the south of the system (Parma)?

!

En route to Manila this evening. A few agencies forecast this to stall off north coast of Luzon for days. Severe flooding is a real concern.

Once in Manila will relocate as best I can.
