I'm looking for suggestions for really good ( good plains coverage ), no-contract, no-credit, prepaid broadband data solutions...

I have MetroPCS cell service here in the DFW area, and rooted my android and did the wifi hotspot feature, it works marginally good, however has in and out coverage.

I need something really good in coverage less than $60 a month preferably.

Thanks !

Hi Tim -- I'm not sure if this is something you'd like, but I've used Millenicom in past years with great success. No contract, month-by-month billing, with service on Sprint or Verizon, and with relatively high data throughput limits. There are several different plans offered -- see the Millenicom Plans page. When you're done using the service, just send back the device (if you don't buy it), and cancel the service. That's it. I know other Stormtrack members have used the service in the past with good reviews. I'd be a little leery of the 3G/4G hotspot plan, since the reviews for that device are extremely mixed. The other USB "sticks"/modems are fine, though.

I've also used Millenicom for the past 3 seasons, w/ decent coverage throughout the Plains. Additionally, I recommend a good amplifier since signal can get weak in certain areas at times.

I doubt they can announce it but does anyone know if Millenicom plans on offering their USB device free for a month like they did last year? Normally they charge $99 for a device but I know last year in March or April they had a special that the device was free.

I'm trying to decide what I should do this year for data. Last year I used a USB card through Verizon but cancelled my account after the season. Not sure if I should re-activate it through them since I already have their device or go through millenicom. Also thought about using Verizon's wireless hotspot. Is that a better option than a USB card or is there something even better than the options I've already listed? Not looking for anything too expensive as I'll only use it April-June.

Well if you can bite the bullet for a two year contract, you can get really good coverage with Verizon. My contract was up last year and now i can pay monthly and still use the UMV 190 data card. Coverage still the same with 5g of usage and I pay 60.00/month during season and will turn it off sometime in June. With the Cyfre Amp I lost no coverage in 8 states.

Things Needed:
$200

Ok Go to besbut grab a USB broadband stick for Verizon. Its 120$ (but you have 30 days to take it back for full refund.) Use it 29 days get your 120$ back.

Drop 50$ 1GB
or 80$ 5GB.

I bought my Verizon USB card on Ebay for about $20 last year. Then used the $50 plan through Verizon and cancelled account after the season.

Unethical much?

Why not simply cancel the account at the end of the season and keep the stick, opening a new account (or reactivating the old one) next season?

And its ethical to lock customers into a 2 year contract where the rules can be changed at any time in the providers favor with no recourse to the customer?

No Brainer , Advanced plan from Millenicom gives you the Full Verizon Network and extended areas as if you are going direct through Verizon plus

20 GB a month instead of 5GB
No Taxes
No Contract !!!!!

Has nothing to do with the use-and-return scam.

There's alternatives to paying 2-year contracts.

Besides, when the rules do change, customers are always given the option to terminate without penalty. At least, in every cell company I've heard of.
