So, I cruised to the NWS ICT webpage to look at their graphical hazardous weather outlook deal, when I came across a news announcement about the "Storms of 2008" DVD availability. I thought, "Geez, it's nice to see the Storm Of ... series get more recognition". However, it seems that this is not the actual "Storms of 2008", but a production by the same name that is produced by the ICT NWSFO. --> http://www.crh.noaa.gov/news/display_cmsstory.php?wfo=ict&storyid=18951&source=0
I think we have one or two folks that work at the ICT NWSFO, so I'm curious to hear why they would opt to call their production by the same name - "Storms of 2008". IMO, there's quite a bit of room for confusion here... The "Storms of" series has been around for several years, and I have to imagine that somebody at the ICT NWSFO has heard of it. I'm sure it's a coincidence that their video is titled the same, since it's not a completely uncommon phrase, I suppose. It's nice to see ICT provide free safety and storm DVDs, but if the charity-driven "Storm of 200x" series been around longer, I think ICT should call it something other than "Storms of 2008" so as to avoid confusion.
Of course, if ICT has been calling their videos series "Storm of xxxx" before the charity-driven "Storms of..." effort started, then they have all rights to continue producing under that title. Just something I found interesting and hadn't seen or heard before...
