Review of Storms of 2008

I sat down last night and watched Storms of 2008. I am really impressed with this year's production. It seems that the S.O. series gets better each year and this year's edition was no expception.

Brandon Ivy did an excellent job on editing May 24th. It is awesome being able to see some of the tornadoes from a different angle.

I also really enjoyed May 29th....the mothership supercell video from Chris Collura is just insane. All of the chapters were excellent, and the quality of video this year is the best yet. After watching all the events I realize I didn't get to chase as much as I would like.

One more thing to note, I noticed none of our HD dash cam footage made the dvd, and I assume its because HD video can be a butt to edit. I know from personal experience. With that said, Justin and I are working on our dvd and hope to have it for sale in a month or so. If you liked our video on May 24th, you haven't seen anything yet. Some of the HD dash cam shots are such high quality you can actually trace debris as it flies around the tornado.

We found one instance where the tornado slung a fairly large part of a tree up in the air (200-300ft) and as it was coming to the ground on the road in front of us the winds seemed to levitate the branches about 20ft above the road for a matter of seconds before gently setting it down in the road. It is some of the craziest debris action I have ever seen.

Anyway, if you haven't pruchased Storms of 2008 your misisng out and you need to get on the ball and buy this one.

Greg, I very much agree with your views! Having watched my review copy many times, I think this is a exceptional representation of the days we covered in SO2008.

As I have stated before, this is our time to come together and help those who have been effected by severe weather. If you know someone who might be interested in supporting our project, send them to http://stormcharitydvd.org/

I have been glad to assist on getting this project fired back up and look forward to a great 2009.

I would like to put up a little sticky on my blog to advertise, is there a way to do that?

I received my copy of Storms Of 2008 today and was very impressed with the production. Everyone involved should be quite proud of what you have accomplished. I know there were a lot of setbacks and 'technical' problems, but this was definitely worth the wait. The video brought back to mind several events that I armchair chased at the time here in Arizona with my GRLevel3 and had since forgotten about. I doubt if anyone is wavering about buying a copy and I know my feeble comments won't change your mind, but it really is filled with exciting segments.

Thank you and good luck to all.

I owe many of you an apology. When I was printing out labels via Paypal's "Multi-Ship" add-on it did not show any of the orders placed before 12/24/08. So they did not get printed thus they did not ship. I discovered this last night as I was printing labels for the new orders that had come in. The older orders were on there as well and they were not there the days before. I may have done something wrong but regardless they are now on there way.

Again, I apologize.

Also, word of advise for those who ship using Paypal. Do Not use their multi-order add-on it sucks....

I just received my copy of Storms of 2008 and stayed up late watching all the great tornado video. Wow. There was definitely a lot of hard work by many dedicated people. I really enjoy seeing events from multiple angles. I also got to see events that I missed including May 24th when I was sitting in Nebraska. I was a little bummed that my Quinter tornado 1 footage was used but none of my Quinter tornado 2 was included except for a still. I guess that is an editorial decision. All the chapters were exceptional. I really can't pick out a favorite because they were all very good. Some of the editors even tracked down some wild amateur and security video of some of the events. I highly recommend purchasing this DVD for yourself or as a gift for friends or maybe your local library or school.

I received my video and am delighted with it. I'll be posting a review of it in my blog, encouraging my readers to purchase and providing a link to the site. I can do this with confidence that the Storms of 2008 is a great product. To all who worked so hard to make it happen--well done!...and, thank you!

Once again, it has been a real pleasure to be able to participate in the production of SO 2008. I did't get to do my favorite thing (Narration), nor did I get to add any video, but I was able to contribute some meager skills in the Sound arena.

No, I haven't seen the video yet. I've seen a couple of bit and pieces, but I haven't seen the majority. I ordered my copy last week and I am looking forward to seeing the fruits of our labors.

On that note, I want to thank EVERYONE that made it possible. From those that sent in video, to those that edited the chapter, to the folks that marketed it and put it all together. EVERYONE!

Most of all, I want to thank you chasers out there. It's your video that makes this all possible. It's an excellent project and I hope to continue to be involved in the future!

As I mentioned in another thread about this DVD, I got hold of my copy last week, which arrived safe and well over here in England! A great video and well done to all those involved. I was quite chuffed to see some of my May 22nd footage on there. It's very ineresting to see the same storm/tornado for different angles too, especially if you were there on the day!
