• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

SPC Day 3 outlooks to be issued twice daily

This will be of particular value for chasers like me, who live outside of the Plains. It will help drive decisions about heading out for those larger, one-off events outside of my core chase vacation (although that concept seems to be nothing but a fantasy for me, because when such opportunities arise it always seems I have too many professional and/or personal commitments to break away from the inertia of real life). It will also help with timing the start or end of a chase vacation.

When chasing, I always do my own Day 1 analysis before reading SPC. This fosters better learning, and avoids potential anchoring bias - i.e., seeing something in SPC, focusing your analysis only on that, and missing other opportunities or important variables. (As I was told by the tour guide that I started with 28 years ago, SPC does not write for chasers!) To be efficient with time and allow a maximum focus on Day 1, I usually rely more on SPC for a sense of Day 2. Unless Day 1 is a down day, in which case I treat Day 2 like Day 1 and do my own analysis first. I don’t rely on Day 3 all that much, unless we are in a down period and I’m looking ahead to the next opportunity. But yeah for one-off events, and timing the start/end of chase vacations, this will be good.

Hopefully the next enhancement is inclusion of tornado, hail and wind risks in Day 3, like in Days 1 and 2!
