• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Sigma 8-16mm

I seriously thought about it and ended up ordering the Sigma 10-20 mm lens last night for my wife's Pentax. That's about as wide as it gets from what I understand and I did consider it, but pulled the trigger on the 10-20 mm model. I'm sure some of the other photographic experts here will know something about the model you are considering though.

I am also interested in what others have to say, or why they didn't get the 8-16.. I am considering it as well.

I debated selling my sigma 10-20 to purchase the 8-16, but I just can't seem to justify the extra $250 for 2mm despite the great reviews. The 10-20 is such a stellar lens for the price, but if money is no issue the 8-16 appears to be the way to go.

The only concern I have about this lens is the f/4.5-5.6 is a little slow but the ultra wide nature of this beast will surly make up for it. You might have to make some manual adjustments though under a giant, sun-blocking meso.
Once you get it, please throw some images up in this thread so we can all check it out!

There are a lof of reviews out there on the internet...one of note is from Ken Rockwell who gave the optics a fantastic review stating it is a "sharp, sharp lens".

Big downfall for landscape photographers and those who like to use polarizers - the lens has a permanent petal-style hood, so it doesn't accept filters unlike the 10-20.
