• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Has anyone used one of these or have any experience with similar product. This is really interesting to be, but not sure worth the price tag.

FWIW, I really only take video for myself. I don't post anything on youtube or online anywhere.

I have a VSN v.360 that I nearly couldn't give away. The way these things work is that they shoot two 180 panoramic vids and splice them together. It's actually kind of a pain to convert them and do anything with them. They're really only useful if you are showing off video to a social media audience. Otherwise, they're pretty gimmicky. The resolution is nice, but something seems "flat" about the finished product.

One thing they're very good for is "lazychasing". Just mount it on the roof and drive near a storm. It's going to record everything.

There's nothing wrong with "lazychasing!" LOL

My thought was more for when you can't quite get the dashcam facing the right way. In my case, the dashcam is just a constant record of what's going on. I have other resources to do the detail work. In this case, if it was any good, I could pull off with my car in any safe position and hoof it to a better vantage point with my good gear while this thing records the ambient action.

I'll probably never pull the trigger on something like this because I'm cheap, but just wondering if it would be even worth considering. Seem's like a pretty clever system, but gimmicky stuff usually ends up getting left behind after the novelty wears off.

I think the best aspect is the ability to frame later which would be good for very close storm video or if one was in the middle of the storm ie hurricane or blizzard. I suspect the trade off now is a decrease in resolution of the framed shot (in comparison to regularly shot video) but this should improve with later models.
