Bill Proenza, ousted in July as director of the National Hurricane Center amid a mutiny by his forecasters in South Florida and friction with his superiors in Washington, is returning to his previous post in Texas, federal officials said Monday.
Proenza, 62, will regain his position as director of the National Weather Service's southern region, based in Fort Worth, Texas, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
