Preferred method of disputing a report (whether SN or LSR)?

On yesterday's chase (4/10/11), we were on the cell that had just gone through La Crosse, WI. It had gone very outflow dominant, and there were some 'tendrils' forming on the gust front that looked very funnel like. Sure enough, the public reported a funnel.

The NWS did a good job in assessing the storm character from radar at the time, because they didn't issue a warning - but what is the preferred method of disputing a report like this or adding information to help people make decisions?

I was thinking SN 'Other', but I wasn't sure. Thoughts?

Personally, I would just call the NWS if you have contact information, which is what I normally do with that type of information. I could be wrong, but based on my own interpretation of the SN Reporting Criteria, such a report wouldn't be allowed to be relayed via that specific venue.

The SN group is meeting to discuss how to handle these events... I'd go to the SN forum and post this there for them to address.

The best is to call the WFO. I have done so several times over the years.

Going to the end point WFO and/or EOC (if they control the sirens) is more timely and affective.

It also shows that you took the time to dial the number and talk with them. Better comfort/confident
zone for the folks at the WFO.

Just a quick question not trying to sidetrack this but it does concern me in a way. I'm a spotter for LaCrosse County and am wondering where you heard the report? I was in Sparta east of LaCrosse yesterday and couldn't follow the ham spotters well and was wondering if it was a local spotter or from another source. No need to drag it out in the forum, you can message me with the answer, I just want to bring it up for quality at one of our meetings. Thanks!
