Just asking to get an idea of what else is out there. Who else uses another Weather Forum besides StormTrack and if you do, what is it?

I have one other rather new forum that I am actively involved in and it can be found here. I really like the layout of this new forum and all the people seem to be really nice and outgoing!

Now am I saying you should leave StormTrack for it? No, not at all! StormTrack is still a pretty good place to come and learn among legendary storm chasing names like Tim Marshall, Lanny Dean, Shane Adams, etc. Im just simply pointing out the fact that there are more forums out there and would like to get a feel for what other ones everyone might be involved in.

I am on the Meso Zone forum too as you know Randy.. I was on Hardcore weather for a little bit. But that place is a cluster...... Well you know what. There was Stormchaser.org for a little bit too it comes and goes. I agree with you Randy the Meso Zone has a sweet layout. But ST and Meso Zone are my main sources for weather discussion.

Here's what I can remember...not at the home PC, so don't have the bookmarks.

Actively post:

skywarnonline.com
easternusweather.com <-- Recommended for thick skinned weather people that like chatting about politics, religion, sports, also. But be warned...you will get hazed at first...especially if you start posting forecasts on the weather side.

Just here for weather. I tried Skywarnonline.com and found it rather lacking hospitality. Hardcoreweather is about the same. This one is by far the best place since it somewhat filters out the peoples who stumbled upon a forum after watching Twister.

I feel that there is way too much noise on easter us weather forums. Literally ten pages can develop really quickly with people just posting "it's raining" or "it's cold." And of course there are some obnoxious psychos. But at the same time, it's nice to interact with some of the pros that frequent on the board, like here on ST.

Nope. I've subscribed to several over the years, but they're all worse than ST. Usually between 1200-4000 members, 12,000 posts, and the admin/owner and a few of his/her close friends are responsible for 90% of all activity. And of course, most of all, I am forever confused as to why a forum full of self-proclaimed wx-enthusiasts have an issue with real storm chasers advertising real storm chasing videos for sale. I'd understand their aggravation if I was trying to push vacuum cleaners or Time Life books onto them, but I just don't get why storm videos are such a serious offense.

People who become members of a wx forum who don't (1) participate in said forum, (2) participate in some type of spotting/chasing, (3) never appear in live storm chasing/spotting chatrooms, and (4) get pissed off at me for offering stormchase videos...those people need to explain to me exactly why they're on wx-forums.

I find one place and make it my general home.

Ive signed up on at least 4 different smaller weather forums by request of their owners, but those never last it seems. I also don't have the time or patience to keep up with 5 different forums that all cover the same topic.

When I want to say something I generally want to reach the largest number of people, so I park myself there. If I want to chat with people Im closer to on the side well...thats what IMs are for.

Add "WeatherWeenie" to that list. WW is a site full of weather enthusiasts who do nothing but troll eachother and attack people. Very litle weather posting and alot of it is garbage. Alot of them are from EastrnUSWeather but atleast one member is from Stormtrack. I only went to that site to defend a friend and will never go back there again. I hope it died out.

Stormvista as I understand had alot of people who were tired of EasternUSWeather.
EasternUSWeather you need a thick skin for.
TheWeatherVane was a good site but is inactive now.
Storm2K is another weather site that was full of drama the last time I was there.
Hardcore weather you need a really thick skin for.
WxChat is active last time I checked.
WesternUSWeather was to me a copy of Eastern.
ClimatePatrol is a small site but is somewhat active last time I checked and I think the owner runs GRLevel3 on his site.

There is many little sites and a few other big weather sites to name out there. There is maybe 2-3 weather sites that require actually names. Stormtrack and Stormchasers being the only two I can think of. Most sites have hundreds of members with random names.

In my oppinion Stormtrack is the best weather site on the web and probably the longest running weather site. Where most sites have failed Stormtrack has suceeded.

I once asked the staff at an ethusiast site if I could advertise for the StormsofCharityDvD there and they said no because they did not know where the money was going after I gave them all of the info and told them I was given permission by Verne. I don't understand why these enthusiast sites don't like storms chasers selling DvD's even when it is for a good cause.

Dont forget the TVN forums, they seem to be nice, if you can handle all the "stormchasers" fans.
