The Grand Forks office of the National Weather Service is apologizing after a political tweet was sent out from the office's Twitter account.

It's unclear what the tweet was in response to since it was quickly deleted, but it was aimed at former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

"Speak to the Justice System's handling of Clinton/Obama et al," said the tweet posted at 11:53 a.m. Wednesday. "These people are inconsequential vestiges. You phony."

North Dakota-based blogger Rob Port posted a screenshot of the tweet.

Due to this, and possibly another similar incident shortly after this one, it is now a rule that you cannot be logged into personal social media accounts while on a government computer at any NWS office. This is to avoid confusion regarding what account employees are logged into to mitigate these types of posts; though, why someone is so comfortable with being on their own twitter while at work that they failed to notice what account they were logged into is beyond me. I've seen this happen before with much more innocent tweets, but regardless, you're paid to work, not sit on your own social media.
