• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Online Met Degree

I have heard through a local TV met that Mississippi State University has a degree program that can be done entirely online.

Is anyone here familiar with their program, or know someone who has traversed it?

Would love to get involved with a program like this. I know that people wouldn't be beating down the door to hire an old fart like me, but the whole point is the education and satisfaction of earning a degree.

It would be sweet!

Oops, apologies to mods, just realized I posted this wrong. Please move to W&C if appropriate.

No online met degree, just a certificate. If that's all you want - go with the USDA's.

You actually can earn a degree through the program....the degree will be a BS in Geosciences. It is required for you to have 124 hours to recieve the full degree and 52 hours for the certificate. I know because I am going to receive a degree very soon from MSU.

Sorry about that - guess they need to update their website! It still says that the online portion can be applied towards a degree, but unless you have to dig I don't see anything about getting it all via PC...

Ah...sorry RDale. I seem to have misread some things myself. You can't get everything through MSU. If you want to get the full degree totally offline, you will have to go through another school to get the basic credits and other things required of your degree. A community college in my town allows you to take all classes online now so I can apply those towards the Geoscience degree. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the clarification on this one, guys.

Would really like to do as much online as possible, as it really fits with my work schedule (which is completely unpredictable). I took one of my journalism courses this way, and was really pleased with the outcome.

Thought about maybe attending COD, too, but that might prove to be too difficult for a Canadian student.
