• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Don't get my wrong, I love my 5DmkII and canon 30D, but sometimes less is more. A while back I got a Lumux zs3 mostly as a camera that go pretty much everywhere with me to shoot atmospheric optics and record video of thunderstorms. Well, the lumix just don't cut it. Noise and lack of manual focus and exposure don't work too well for this type of shooting.

I did have a thought of getting canons high end point and shoot, the G11 I think, but it don't do video.

A 7D or T2I would fill the bill with a few quirks, but would be just like the set up I take to work with me all ready:

30D with grip
11-16mm lens
24mm lens
50mm lens
100mm lens

and some misc goodies.

The other day I got good an wet with my gear bag trying to get a good location to shoot some rotation over my head at work. Did not even get my gear out. If I had, I would have got everything wet as I tried to shove my camera back in the bag. Sure, A little water should not do much, but still.

On TV I seen a comercial for the Olympus Pen and started to think. The camera has built in IS, which is good. Manual exposure and focus even in movie mode. Shoots Raw, with the lens cost under a grand. More compact. I figure if I was out shooting with the pen, with no bag, I could just remove the lens real quick and pocket both the camera and lens.

Since my Lumix don't satisfy my needs and rather just going for yet another P&S, why not get a pen? A hybrid DSLR P&S camera? It would be used mostly while I am at work or do not feel like hauling my gear around or need to be quick.

Your thoughts?
