A Newcomb

I just got my Kestrel 3000 in the mail today...and older one...that I won in an ebay auction.

I only paid $55 for it....and it seems to work as it should so far. But of course I find myself wondering if I should've spent the extra $$ to to get a newer unused one.

Has anyone upgraded from the old to the new make of any Kestrel? Thanks for your input.

I have been using a Kestrel 3000 since they were first available and see no need to upgrade. the newer units have some neat features but it is like a lot of the stovepipes on top of some chaser vehicles... Do you really need them?

If yours is fully operational and in good condition cosmetically, I will take it off of your hands for your cost. I won't have to move mine from one vehicle to another that way...

Thanks for you're input...you make an excellent point. I guess I'm just thinking crookedly since I have such a bad cold...lol.

Are the impellers that are being sold now compatible with the older style Kestrel like I have? I would think so..but I'm not sure.
So yea...I'm probably going to hold on to it.

On the flip side....would you pay $60 for it? ;)

Would you take $40 for it?

I can not write with authority on the impellers, but I expect they will fit all models with the same number. I have not replaced mine yet. Might be a good time to order...

I sold and shipped it.

Made $20.

Now I'm not sure if I want a new Kestrel or a Handheld Inspeed Vortex.....is the Inspeed better for measuring wind??

Bump: New Kestrel 3000 for ~$100 or Inspeed for ~$50.

You make the call...
