The OK Tax Commission authorized special license plates for the National Weather Center in 2009. Before the license plates can be ordered or manufactured, the Oklahoma Tax Commission must have 100 prepaid applications on file.

Help us reach our Goal of 100 applications by October 1, 2010! Cost is $18. If we don’t get 100 applications, your $18 fee will be returned.

You can buy it for this one year only, you are not committed to additional years. We just need 100 applications, so they will produce the plate.

Please fill out the application and send with check payable to the Oklahoma Tax Commission. http://nwc.ou.edu/files/NWCLicense.pdf

What a great way to make your "storm chasing team" or "storm research group" look official!! ;)

I wish there was an option to buy a commemorative version that we could just add to the 'collection'. Like a take that was blank or had a non-registered number.

I wonder who'll get the first one (the WX1 001).

Is this going to be a metal tag with pressed letters though. Looks like it might be one of these plastic tags that is just a printed image.

This is about as good as it gets in Maryland:

About 50 have been ordered so far. You must have a current OK plate to order one.

If I was still in OK, I woulda been first in line with "SPINDOC" as my choice.

Woops....there's another great idea let outta the bag ;)
