• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Nikon D40 Question

Over the past couple of months, I have been looking at various DLSR cameras and have pretty much narrowed down my search...However, I was looking for opinions from people who have owned this camera (Nikon D40) or know about the camera.

From what I can tell (correct me if I'm wrong), the D40 is pretty much the same as the D60, except that the D60 comes with a few more features and megapixels (but is more expensive). The D90 can shoot video, but I'm not really looking for a camera that can do that.

What I was thinking of doing was buying the Nikon D40 and then purchasing the Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens for the camera. I had tested out a camera at Best Buy that had those lens (it was on a D90), and from what I could tell, the quality of the picture was fantastic.

For those of you who have owned a Nikon D40 camera or have the Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens, would you recommend them, or is there a better alternative around the same price?

I own the D40 and stock lens that comes with it. I am truly satisfied with the quality and performance of the camera. From my research on buying a camera I have found that you pay for megapixels and maybe an extra feature or two.

My budget was low and the need for High megapixels wasnt on my list since I most likely wont ever need that big of a picture. I also got a Bag (nikon large bag) with the camera for a total of $450 from CametaCamera on Ebay.

I will most definetely upgrade my lens as soon as I can afford a better one. But I can definetely say that the quality of stock is excellent and ideal.

My Photo Gallery and the June 3rd and June 5th Album have photos I took with the camera.

Hope this helps...

Those photos are superb! I didn't realize how good the quality of the stock lens' the camera came with...I may just end up going with those instead of buying new lens. Thanks for the help!
