I thought this was one of the more remarkable lightning photographs I've seen lately.

The Christ the Redeemer Statue, located in Rio de Janeiro, BR and recently named one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm on Sunday. I'm sure this isn't all that uncommon of an occurrence as it's located 2300' above the city, but I can't recall seeing a photo of it happening until today. Rio, an extremely large city of 6M over 487mi2, is located along the SErn Brazilian coast, and is often bisected by sea breeze boundaries during the summer; the airport (in the city's north) averages 24 thunderstorm days per year.
