• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

New Sony 25MP "Flagship" DSLR

It has a little ways to go yet in comparison to the new $45,600 Seitz Phototechnik's 160-megapixel 6x17 Digital camera that takes a 7,500 x 21,500-pixel image.

Good lord what size screen would you possible need to get that to display in raw format? That would be like a city block size screen in HD quality!

At only $45k, I think I'll go ahead a get a couple... one for chasing and one for landscapes and stuff. :p:cool:

I can't see the lens lineup inspiring anyone over Canon/Nikon. For pros, why would one switch to Sony? It will take time and money for Sony to convince people to switch over.

Sure it's great to have more megapixels but the feature that I'm dreaming of is a DSLR that has a wider dynamic range. Right now, the consumer technology out there doesn't seem to even come close to recognizing the differing light levels the human eye can see. Give me this and I'll be jumping for joy.

I know you can make HDR images in photoshop but my point is that we shouldn't have to.

Thoughts?

Let alone how much memory you'd need to process an image that size. Would be a trip working with layers on an image that large!

One high-resolution file is 307MB in raw format and it takes about a second to take a full-resolution 7,500 x 21,500-pixel image so a tripod is a must with this 10 Lb beast.

Back on the topic of the Sony I think they are in to many markets with other electronics to dedicate enough time to the DSLR's to make me feel comfortable about getting into a bunch of Sony lenses just to have their camera. Granted I jumped on the Pentax wagon (K10) but they have been around a while and are digging right into the DSLR market.
