• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

New Radar Images Available from Cuba

Has NOAA put all of the TDWR's online? Tho thats some weird radar i have never herd of... Nice of them to throw it online...

a quick google search came up with this radar also http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ridge/Arsr-4/ Watford City, ND FAA ARSR-4 Radar

There are a few aviation radar systems that NWS folks are trying to get disseminated nationwide, including TDWRs (most TDWR data are available to NWSFO responsible for the area covered by the TDWR, and may be available to each and every NWSFO by now), ARSR-4s, and ASR-11s. As far as I know, the only TDWR available in the public domain is the OKC TDWR HERE. See NWS Use of FAA Radar Data -- Progress and Plans (Istok et al. 2005)*.
It'll be interesting to see how quickly (or if, for that matter) these other radar systems come online to the public. The resolution gain provided by Cband and Xband radar systems is quite nice compared to the Sband WSR88D (of course, there are plenty of negatives for those systems too).

TDWR's were mention by Gilbert Sebenste (was it here or on GRLevelX's forum) as being publicly available in the next year.

I see these ARSR radars output a nostalgic six color DVIP type spectrum.

If I'm not mistaken, this radar was supposed to serve as a replacement for the WSR-74C at Williston. The radar and NWS office there still have not been decommissioned because of public and political pressures (the FAA radar isn't good enough for them).

TDWR's are still not available in many WFO's, even when they are fairly local. Last I heard was funding for next year...
