Going through some old stuff I found a years worth(1987) of "Storm Track" by Tim Marshall. I also found his "Storm chase manual". Although I have yet to find a tornado in Portland, Oregon there have been some sighted in around here. Interesting stuff.

Cool stuff Craig. You should scan that into the computer {edit} to save it as a historical record for personal use.

Really don't want to diminish any enthusiasm, but "scanning and posting it online" probably isn't the best way to do this considering Copywrite Laws.

Allow me to propose a better alternative that I had already created in the Educational Forum but may have been overlooked.

“STORMTRACK, The Ultimate Collection 1977-2001” CD
For those that may not be aware, Stormtrack was originally a bimonthly publication started in 1977 by a small group of dedicated folks who were enthused about watching severe weather and wanted to offer their experiences and growing knowledge to others in the fledgling hobby. The Stormtrack CD is a scanned PDF file containing every issue that was published with all of the photographs and graphics. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is simply an old history book and you need the ‘latest’ information. While many refinements have been made, the basic knowledge and principles are still the same.

Three of the major extras that come with the CD are: Storm Chase Manual by Tim Marshall; Tornado Forecasters Workbook by Tim Marshall and Tim Vasquez; and Tornado Talk by Tim Marshall. These are outstanding documents that will greatly benefit those who want to seriously learn about storm chasing. They are NOT something that you can just stick under your pillow and absorb the information while you sleep. If you expend the effort to study them, you will be rewarded for your time and money spent. I checked with Tim Marshall and the price for the CD has been reduced to $50.00 which includes shipping. At first, that may seem like a lot, but it is a real bargain for what you get.

The CD contains 3,142 pages and is about 450mb. If you have room on your computer, it is suggested to copy the PDF file to your hard drive for faster loading.

The CD can still be ordered from Tim Marshall.

Very true I totally forgot about that. Thanks for pointing this out Richard. Course Craig you can wait about 70 years after everyone else croaks and then post it online.

I'm 58 so I'll croak before most of you I assume. I truly envy you all that live down that way. Just to see a supercell let alone a tornado, that would satisfy me.
My wife asked me about a vacation and where we should go. I said we should go to Texas or Ok in the late spring and watch the weather. She didn't like that idea. She did like the go to Alaska either in the winter or summer solstice. One to see the Aurora's or two to see the Sun make a full 360 around the sky and never touch the ground. Imagine!
I submitted(vol.10No.6) an excerpt from a book my great great grandfather wrote about the civil war and his service as a chaplin. A tornado hit a jail and killed most of the "freed" prisoners.
You know it's things like you guys are doing that make for a full life. One that you can look back on and feel satisfied that you were there.

You should come down and visit for a few days. =) Course you'd have to bring a bushel of crab
