Delorme is offering right now Street Atlas 2008 software with a new LT-20 usb GPS receiver for $59.95 w/ free shipping. I ordered mine yesterday.

I'm also looking. Besides the Delorme, I've been looking at the Deluo 31-311-01 and the Garmin 18.

When I go to the Delorme website I'm only able to find it for 69.95. Where did you go to get it for $10 cheaper?

I have been using the new LT-20 gps reciever, i have not loaded the 2008 mapping software yet. The receiver works great, i use it with the delorme virtual port (its free download) I use one receiver for WXworx, Street Atlas mapping, and GRlevel3, it works great on all three products at the same time.

To expand on Hank's quote... (I also started using the LT-20 in May). You can download the serial emulator from Delorme (below).

Now you can bring the LT-20 in on a com port, then run it through the emulator and split it back out on 3 additional com ports. The beauty is that the ports can be adjusted to talk in "raw" or "NMEA". This should satisfy any program's input requirements! I use "raw" mode for input to Delorme Street Atlas(SA) and then set SA to look for the "Earthmate." For the GRLevel3 and my positioning system for web uploading I use the "NMEA" mode. Everything works great for hours of GPS logging!

Happy GPS'ing!

I chase with a Macbook running Bootcamp and Windows XP and am happy to report that SA 2008, GRLevel3 and the Spotter Network app all see the LT-20 perfectly with the DeLorme port emulator. My cell is an LG CU500v and I use Bluetooth for data access with the new AT&T Communications Manager. Flawless all the way with no compatability issues.

Thanks Al for the port emulator setup tips, helped a great deal.

I picked up my LT-20 at bestbuy here in mobile for $59.95 plus tax. They had it there for $69.99 but online it had the $59.95 price. I printed the price online and they honored it.

It's working great. I downloaded the serial port emulator above and it work flawlessly with Street Atlas USA 2008, GRlevel3 and Spotter Network.

My 2001 version of SA and the gps unit crapped on me, so I had to buy this last week. I wasn't sure if the usb to serial converter went bad or the gps unit itself. Rather than screw around I just went down to best buy and bought the new one. I guess I should have printed out the online thing as I paid the $10 more price. But anyway, it works with all my stuff too, though I've had a bit of a problem using all 3 things at once(gr3, spotter network, and SA......though pretty sure I had them all working at once before). It locks a lot quicker than that old one, that's for sure. I am noticing I get a lot of red flashing on the unit when I zoom in and am driving. I wouldn't think that would be related to when I'm zoomed in on the map, but it sure seems to do it more when I do so. Other than that, it works great.

I hope some of the mapping is better, though I'm sure I'll still see those same "roads" on the map that look a lot like a farmer's field to the eye. Gotta love racing a storm to a road that ends up being one of those.

Mike,

You should be able to run all 3 GPS apps at the same time with no trouble. I know that GR3 requires a lower com port as it only scans up to Com10 I think. Thus, use one of the emulated lower port numbers for GR3. Have been using Xport here without any trouble, using GR3, Spotter Network, and Microsoft S&T all at the same time.
