Need Help: Real-Time Google Earth Hurricane Recon and Other Weather Data

This summer we saw the launch of some new types of weather displays...most notably a realtime Hurricane Hunter Recon map from GUIWeather using google earth. There are also other paramteres that they and others have used (such as lightning strike data etc).

Here are my questions:

1. How does one go about getting the hurricane hunter data, computer model ensemble tracks and forecast postions to plot on top of google earth? Being computer illiterate,...i am curious how they do this? The more detailed explanation the better

2. Have you seen other websites besides guiweather plot this hurricane data on some mapping program?

I use it for my maps - I run VB here which creates the html using their API.
