John I couldn’t believe it when I saw your post. I happen to be in Miami at a business conference, and yesterday one of the conference recreational activities was a kayak trip in the mangroves extending inland from Biscayne Bay. We saw some iguanas up in the trees and the guide was explaining that many of them could just fall off the trees and die from the cold weather. Some of the iguanas were on low branches, pretty close to us, and the guide said that ordinarily they might scurry away or jump in the water (they are good swimmers) but in this case were too sluggish and remained in one spot. You can see in the picture with the red circle how high up these guys can be, so I can see how a long drop is possible. How ironic to read your post after having that firsthand experience yesterday! Thanks for sharing!

Yeah the guides on the Miami kayak tour were also saying that about 9-10 years ago the cold weather caused a fish-kill; disrupted the bonefishing tour industry for years; apparently each bonefish is worth $3,500 to the local economy!

All I ever hear mentioned in the media is the citrus crop damage.
Not in media, but I have heard some of the past freezes(& hurricanes) have affected tropical fish-farms (ie pet/aquarium fish) in FL.
