Dann Cianca
I hope this is the place to do this, I've noticed a couple of other similar posts here.
I've been a member here for a few months and figured it was time to introduce myself.
My name is Dann Cianca. I grew up in Butte, Montana and lived there until 2004 when I was 23 years old. I currently live in Denver, Colorado and attend the Metropolitan State College of Denver, majoring in Meteorology. I expect to graduate this spring!
My interest in weather goes back to my childhood. To make a long story short, when I was very young, I loved maps. Then, one day our cable carrier picked up a channel that had lots of maps on it: The Weather Channel. I was hooked. I always remember being awed by some of our severe summer thunderstorms. They're obviously not the same as storms you could see on the plains, but large hail and severe winds were not completely uncommon.
I've wanted to chase ever since watching old chasing videos on The Weather Channel. It is a little difficult to chase in the mountains, but I've made the best of my newfound proximity to the plains here in Colorado. I've only been chasing 'seriously' for the last two years, especially last year.
Anyway, I wanted to thank Tony Laubach and the Carlsons for making me feel welcome in the local chase arena.
I look forward to meeting many more of you out on the plains or at the chase convention in a couple weeks!
Sincerely,
Dann Cianca
