• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I somehow hadn't seen this till now. It's in a way a little mind blowing, only because I know what is happening on what is there on that. I thought they were chasers but doesn't sound like it, and did have a couple kids with. Listen to the part towards the end "here's a storm chaser, here's a storm chaser". That is Samaras and Discovery about to drop a probe in the tornado's path and quickly scoot a short distance east of there! "There's some chasers, take their picture." Evidently pretty oblivious as to what was happening aloft yet. The quote "They also know where the safe spots are" is kinda humorous given the circumstance at the time and who it was they were talking about. Just before that, "We're away from it now?" RIGHT before Samaras pulls up in front of them. We're safe, he's deploying a probe here. Or, hey wonder what that yellow cone thing is for.

At :32 on my video that is the same place and Samaras and crew sliding a smidge out of the tornado's path. I think they must have just waved them out of there, given what they say on their video. Before that you can see several chasers zipping east out of the tornado's path and the for whatever reason they zipped west and stopped perfectly in the damn path!

Yeah watching it again, for sure Tim and/or Discovery waved them out of there. Good on them.

If he would have just stayed right where he was when the tornado was on the drivers side it would have been awesome video. He ruined it lol.

I thought they had to be chasers simply because they were so calm and collected with a rapidly rotating updraft base and a multiple vortex just waiting to happen. Once that stove pipe touches down I can't believe they didn't flip out now that I know they aren't chasers.
That was smart to waive them out of there. It never seemed like they were in much danger, but I'm still really impressed by how calm they were through that.

Yeah their video is just really misleading on how much danger was just moments away from them, exactly where they were thinking was a safe spot by the chasers lol.

Where they were when their video ends was RIGHT behind Samaras and Discovery vehicles in the above, on that highway, squarely in the path of where the tornado moved....and planted violently. Samaras and Discovery in the above had just moved forward after dropping the probe. They were dropping the probe in their video, while telling them to get out of there apparently. They could have very easily have just sat there otherwise, watching the fast but not overly threatening motions...then bam, hello violent tornado crashes down on them.
