Just picked myself up a new HD video camera. Canon HF-M30

I have a HD Canon Vixia HV40 refurbished on the way. It was marked down to $499 on the Canon website. It was recommended by an individual and he said he has not had any problem with his. It was first released in May 2008 but not too bad of a camera for the price. And it still uses DV Tape and that is fine with me cause im hearing about the issues with all the various SD cards out there and transfering video.

I recently purchased a Canon HF M300. Same thing basically. Great cam. I picked mine up at Adorama in a kit for 389$ Came with a 8 gb card, 2 yr extended warranty, case, cleaning cloth, extra extended lifebattery, instructional dvd.

Jarrod, I have that exact same camera. I got it for Christmas from my parents. It's a GREAT little camera but make sure you turn up the video quality on it. Mine came defaulted to the lowest quality video.

I'm running the Canon HF100 1080p AVCHD camcorder. Bought it a few years ago when it first came out, so of course paid thru the nose for it. Somewhere around $800 at the time. No issues or problems in 2-3 years of use. I bought it specifically because it was 1080p to match my tv, and used a memory card so I can get instant access to any file, and all I have to do is pull the card and plug it into my laptops card reader to transfer files to my laptop. I have never had an issue with SD cards, but I also only buy quality ($) cards. The picture quality is outstanding, even on my 67" tv.

The only "gotcha" is the fact that editing AVCHD files takes a monster computer. Be sure to check specs before buying if you want to edit on your laptop. My Dell XPS is only 2 years old and it cries everytime I edit a video file....
