At long last, I have gotten around to writing up some of what I experienced last month on a trip between Pagosa Springs, CO and Mammoth Lakes, CA. As it happened, this trip turned out to be during a very active period of an Atmospheric River event affecting the western states, and our travels allowed me to experience everything from thundersnow to seeing Monument Valley with lots of snow to record snowfall in what even normally is one of the snowiest places in the lower 48.
