After looking over the NAM and GFS I have decided to roll the dice and play northeast Colorado, southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska tomorrow through Saturday.

The models continue to show upslope flow beneath modest westerlies aloft through the weekend. In fact it appears Saturday could be a great day up there as a significant shortwave ejects intot he Plains. I don't know much about forecasting upslope events in that area yet, but with the information on the internet I will be doing my homework this evening and tomorrow morning as I drive that way. I am looking to find a hotel in Kansas along I-70 tonight. For those of you who are familiar with chasing these kinds of setups, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Greg...I am in the same boat. I am currently in Pueblo, CO (out here from California for work commitments) and have been pondering staying in Colorado to chase tomorrow. I am currently scheduled to fly back to California midday tomorrow...but with the SPC outlining a Slight Risk for NE Colorado tomorrow I am tempted to stick around. I guess it all depends how robust the easterly/southeasterly surface winds will be tomorrow...Unfortunately, I have to be back for a wedding on Saturday. Good luck!

Colorado's always had it's peak tornado season in the first two weeks of June. Twice already we've driven out to Kansas to have tornado's drop right in our backyard. The rest of this week looks like CO front range action!

That is why I decided to take a chance and come up here. I am currently near Ft. Morgan and will likely position between I-70 and I-76 near the town of Hoyt. I am new to this, but to me it appears a Denver cyclone may be forming this afternoon and the DCVC may be setting up from Strasburgh north-northeast to near Roggen. It is promising to see some clearing. I guess this post should go in the forecast thread instead of here. Are you going out today Verne? I really like the potential today through Saturday. I have to leave Saturday and get back to Tulsa by Sunday night.

Hey Greg, you might want to creep back southwest towards Limon, as things are really initiating along the Palmer Divide along I-25 between DEN and CSPGS. The activity will eventually make it out your way, but you might miss the show if you stay too far east.

Actually, you may want to drop back down to I-70 towards Deer Trail or Bennett as everything should pass that way.

More then once, I've set up near Fort Morgan and played the waiting game, and missed the show along the Palmer Divide.

Hi Andrew,

Most of my chasing has been through central KS, OK, and NE. I'm not too familar with these upslope develoments along the front range. I'm currently west of Garden City and headed to Lamar to catch anything that fires off the Raton Mesa. Is this the best position for a Ratin Mesa play?

It's always good to talk to a local. Especially in the geographically-unique front range!

Thanks,
Bryan

If I were not trapped at work, I'd be heading south on Parker Road to hwy 86to meet up with the storm that just went tornado warned over Castle Rock.

Bryan, you might want to stay a bit further south then Lamar. Springfield to Campo would be good spots to be, and points to the west. The road network down there sucks though!
