• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

im not familiar with the dazzle program...try sonys DVD architect 3.0...it also comes with the vegas movie editing program, which is similar to adobes premier pro, but $200 cheaper...

its only $100 for the DVD architect and vegas...and they do just fine for me...

as far as "downloading the video" to your computer...do you mean the files after the redering process, or ripping the DVD? maybe you could clarify that for me...

I've used Dazzle, and I'm fairly positive that you need something better to make a DVD.

I'm not sure what the problem is with not being able to download video to your computer, I need more detail about that. However, Dazzle's quality is not amazing. It works for uploading video captures, and short clips to the internet, but I would never use it to make a DVD. You'll need to shell out some bucks to do that.

My advise is to stay away from Dazzle. I used Dazzle for a very brief period of time, and I say brief because I had nothing but problems with it. If your camcorder has a firewire output on it, invest in a firewire card and upload video that way. Best Buy has good firewire cards that you can get and use.

And then if you can can, get Adobe Premiere Professional 2.0..

If I remember correctly dazzle is for non digital (analog) to digital.

Joey is correct. If your using Mini DV which if not you could upgrade for $300 or more you should be using firewire. The technology has been around for awhile and works quite well.

Im a BIG Vegas NLE fan. This in my opinion is the most trouble free start to finish software available. It spits out DVD's with no problems.

If your not a professional user they have a consumer version called Sony Movie Studio for about $100 at Best Buy. Im sure it will work ok with its limited number of tracks you can work with at once. Im sure it will suit most users just fine.

The Vegas or Movie Studio software and a firewire card is most all you need to put out good dvd's for viewing. A large HD will be needed as well as 1 tape of Mini DV ( 1 hour ) = 13 gig of info.

I've used one of those. The others are right regarding quality issues, however the units are good enough for webcam type work or short vid clips for fun etc.

There might be several issues... I'm assuming you already installed the drivers for the device? A lot of people go wrong in that they connect the device first before installing the software which can screw things up; you need to install drivers first THEN connect the device. You may need to do some uninstall steps first to fix this.
